Disclaimer: I received this ARC(Kindle edition) from the publisher through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
If you enjoy a dark psychological tale then this is the book for you. I had not read this author before but will look for his previous works. It all starts out so innocent when wife Elise and husband Scott go to the Hamptons to take care of her dying father.Their marriage is already troubled. The setting is winter. You can feel the bleakness and desolation. The setting is perfect. All the summer homes are closed and shuttered including the one next door to Elise’s father’s house. All seems fine until Scott sees a light that turns on every night at the same time from the house next door. The light is obviously on a timer but Scott becomes obsessed waiting for the light to turn on.And that is where the darkness begins. This book has shades of Gone Girl but seems even darker. The writing is good and the story is told through Scott. So many twists to the story it is definitely a book that will keep you up at night. I see a movie coming..so my question is to Ben Affleck(Nick from Gone Girl)..Are you willing to play a somewhat wimpy husband again? This time the ending will be very very different.
